Client Support Worker - MPIP - Part Time

About the Position

Anglicare SQ’s Townsville Community Aged & Disability team are passionate, values-driven professionals working together to affect real outcomes in our community. Part of this service includes our Managing Public Intoxication Program (MPIP).  The MPIP program involves coordinating the case management of indigenous and non-indigenous people who are intoxicated in public places and who are displaced, itinerant or at risk of homelessness within the Townsville area.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and professional Client Support Worker to join the team on a part time basis of 30 hours per week. The role is responsible for actively supporting the Senior Case Manager and Case Manager in the delivery of client services in areas including social services and support. You will assist clients to access community services by providing information and assistance in contacting these agencies.

 

About You

With a dedication and commitment to helping others within your community, you will offer the following knowledge and skills:

  • An ability to call on your own life experiences in dealing with marginalised and disadvantaged persons
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and identify with this heritage
  • Background in working with people who are suffering from drug and alcohol addiction, mental health issues or crisis situations
  • Strong advocacy skills within the health sector and the ability to negotiate with external services
  • Knowledge of legislation including professional standards, funding arrangements and access criteria
  • Good general administration and reporting skills and an understanding of current community resources and funding support 

With strong communication skills and a passion for providing support to others, you will also offer the following personal attributes:

  • Ability to build strong working relationships and rapport with a wide variety of people including staff, clients and their families
  • The belief that every person can contribute to a community and work effectively to encourage their strengths
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, often in high-pressure situations, while remaining personable and supportive
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritise your own workload and supervise staff to do the same
  • Willingness to think outside the box, offer suggestions and solutions to complex problems while working within tight timeframes
  • An interest in working in a collaborative manner to promote services, improve systems and deliver positive organisational outcomes

Our successful candidate will hold the following certifications:

  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children) with Yellow Card exemption
  • A current National Police Certificate
  • Queensland Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle
  • Immunisation against Tetanus, Hepatitis A and/or Hepatitis B
  • A Certificate IV or Diploma in a relevant field would be advantageous
