About the Position

Nestled within our leafy campus at Taigum, north Brisbane, our fully accredited service of St Martin's features landscaped gardens and a range of recreational facilities. Extending across three integrated wings, St Martin's offers residential aged care focused on providing excellent 24 hour nursing and care assistance. The service also caters for our most physically frail and those requiring palliative care, and we are looking for an experienced Lifestyle Assistant to join our team on a casual basis, to cover both planned and unscheduled leave, and make a real contribution to our facility and the well-being of our residents.

The Lifestyle Assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of activities and lifestyle programs which enable residents to participate in a variety of experiences which improve their quality of life, taking into account the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of each individual within Anglicare. The role is also responsible for ensuring resident safety at all times and providing services to residents under the direction and supervision of a Diversional Therapist and/or other team members as per the individual Facility structure.

 

About You

An experienced professional within Residential Aged Care, you will bring the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Proven background in designing, conducting and evaluating activity and diversional therapy programs
  • Ability to assist the Diversional Therapist and other team members who care for residents who are physically frail
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of people including staff, residents & their families in a professional and friendly manner
  • Commitment to ongoing quality improvement and professional development of the facility and yourself
  • Dedication to promoting a safe, caring environment to improve and enhance the lives of residents
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment and to manage your own workload
  • Good computer skills and experience in the use of AutumnCare software would be beneficial

To be successful in this position you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Leisure and Health (or equivalent)
  • A current National Police Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Capability to meet the physical requirements of the role
