About the Position

Anglicare’s Homelessness Services endeavours to empower women to make their own decisions and provide them with the resources they need to take control of their lives and participate in their community. Our team provides accommodation and holistic support via a range of services to help women rebuild their self-worth to make sustainable changes in their lives. We support women to increase their capacity to sustain tenancies through a trauma informed/recovery orientated/housing first case management framework and are currently looking for a full time Recovery Practitioner to join this dedicated team of professionals. This is initially a 12-month contract, with possible extension.

Working 76 hours per fortnight, the Recovery Practitioner – Accommodation, is part of an integrated Case Management team in providing therapeutic case management support to single adult women and young women who are parenting and are experiencing homelessness. You will be providing individualised support to women that may identify with multiple needs associated to mental health, addiction, trauma, and community isolation. The Recovery Practitioner will share a 7-day roster within the case management team that works across both day and mid shifts to support service delivery.

 

About You

With a background in using a strengths-based approach to facilitate case planning and support to women, our ideal candidate will also offer:

  • Sound knowledge of issues facing single adult women, or young women who are pregnant or parenting, and are experiencing homelessness
  • A strong, robust understanding of Trauma Informed Practice, Recovery Orientated Practice and Housing First Principles
  • Practical experience in case management and client support, and a sound knowledge of social and community housing within the community sector
  • Ability to provide practical and emotional support to residents, with a focus on individual needs and situations
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of people
  • Proven capability in maintaining objective, accurate and relevant records based on confidentiality, respect and client-centred care
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, which maintain a level of professionalism
  • Confidence in self-management and the prioritisation of your own workload, along with a collaborative nature and interest in being part of a team

Your qualifications will include a Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or Behavioural or Social Sciences; a current Blue Card (Working with Children) and a Queensland Driver Licence.
