Recovery Practitioner - Sustaining Tenancies (QDAC)

About the Position

Anglicare’s Homelessness Services strive to empower people to make their own decisions and provide them with the resources they need to take control of their lives and participate in their community. Our team provides accommodation and holistic support via a range of services to help people rebuild their self-worth to make sustainable changes in their lives. 

Our new program supports both males and females referred through the Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court (QDAC) to sustain tenancy throughout their treatment order, and we are looking for a full time Recovery Practitioner to support the program. Working 76 hours per fortnight, the Recovery Practitioner – Sustainable Tenancies (QDAC) will allocate housing and support individuals to maintain it. The role will work as part of the broader QDAC team, providing case management program treatment, promoting independence, self-reliance and community connectedness. This is an initial two-year contract, with potential to extend.

 

About You

With a background in using a strengths-based approach to support those with a history of drug or alcohol misuse, our ideal candidate will also offer:

  • Experience in case management and assessment of adults; intervention strategies for at risk individuals
  • A strong, robust understanding of Trauma Informed and Recovery Orientated Practice
  • Sound knowledge of social and community housing, and of issues facing those who misuse drugs and/or alcohol
  • Ability to provide practical and emotional support, with a focus on individual needs and situations
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of people
  • Proven capability in maintaining objective, accurate and relevant records based on confidentiality, respect and client-centred care
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, which maintain a level of professionalism
  • Confidence in self-management and the prioritisation of your own workload, along with a collaborative nature and interest in being part of a team

Your qualifications will include a Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or a similar field, and/or equivalent practical experience; a current Blue Card (Working with Children) with Yellow Card exemption; and a Queensland Driver Licence.
