About the Position

Anglicare’s Community Aged & Disability teams provide support and services that enable our clients to maintain their independence - living happily and healthily within their own homes. We recognise that one size does not fit all, and working together is the key to great outcomes. Our non-clinical lifestyle programs are designed to support individual needs, incorporating the principles of social inclusion, choice and control, enablement, empowerment and independence.

We are currently looking for a part time Social Worker to join our team, providing clinical services to clients throughout the South-East suburbs of Brisbane, and Logan region. The role is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of education sessions and/or workshops and to provide professional leadership and support to care staff, particularly in responding to emerging issues in providing services to people with complex needs.

 

About You

As an experienced Social Worker, with a background in either Community, Aged Care or Disability Services, your abilities will include:

  • Receiving and identifying referrals and conducting client consultations
  • Planning and implementation of service and treatment requirements
  • Management of a diverse, sometimes complex, case load
  • Facilitating both individual and group counselling sessions.  Topics may include relationships, grief & loss and complex family situations
  • Supporting and training of staff in areas including psychosocial needs of clients and behavior management
  • Active contribution to client-centred care model, best practice and quality improvement measures

  • Demonstrated ability to show empathy, patience and respect while delivering flexible and responsive service
  • The ability to work as part of a cohesive team, show initiative and manage your own workload in a practical, autonomous way
  • A friendly, open and smiling countenance!

Your qualifications will include a

  • Degree in Social Work or similar field
  • Blue Card (Working with Children) with Yellow Card exemption
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • National Police Certificate
  • Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or eligibility to join
