About the Location

Anglicare’s recently upgraded Aged Care facility, Kirami, is located in the coastal city of Hervey Bay which boasts a number of Queensland’s safest, family-friendly beaches and some of the world’s best whale watching. Life in the bay is built around the Esplanade - showcasing alfresco cafes, shops, picnic areas, playgrounds and a vibrant marina with the laidback lifestyle attracting people and families from all walks of life.   A mild climate of between 22 and 30 degrees encourages year-round water sports including sailing, kite-boarding and water skiing.

Only 3 ½ hours north of Brisbane, Hervey Bay is serviced by a domestic airport, regular ferries, buses and the high-speed Tilt Train. With an estimated population of just under 55,000, it has a number of public and private schools - from prep through to secondary, as well as a highly-rated trade college and University campus. There is one public and two private hospitals, supermarkets, a multi-screen cinema plus a library and art gallery as well as some exceptional cafes and restaurants.

About The Role

The Aboriginal word Kirami, means ‘home’ or ‘place of care’, and represents the commitment of our staff in providing the highest standards of aged care service. We are currently looking for like-minded Registered Nurses to join our team for both part time and full time shifts. Our Registered Nurses provide comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments - and plan care based on the outcomes of these assessments - utilising contemporary evidence based clinical knowledge. They also provide ongoing case management of residents and provide shift supervision and guidance to our Enrolled Nurses and Personal Care Workers.

 

About You and Your Experience

With an extensive background in Aged Care nursing, you will also be a strong, collaborative leader with the following skills:

  • Strong clinical background and current knowledge of practices and evaluations
  • Skills in palliative care, wound care, medication management and post-acute care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards and ACFI and other funding processes
  • Leadership, coaching and mentoring of nursing and personal care staff
  • Admissions and assessment of need to create and implement appropriate client-centric care packages
  • A commitment to continuous improvement through evaluation and education
  • An understanding of legislative requirements including Workplace Health and Safet
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal and an ability to work effectively within a team environment, relating to a wide range of staff, management, residents and families
  • Sound computer knowledge with experience in clinical systems (AutumnCare would be beneficial)
  • Compassion and enthusiasm, with a friendly, approachable attitude
  • Provision of client-centred care which respects and protects the rights, privacy & wellbeing of our residents

With a strong client focus and the drive to make a real contribution, you will need to have the following credentials:

  • A degree in Nursing
  • A National Police Certificate
  • Current registration with AHPRA and several years’ experience in the Aged Care sector
  • The ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
