About the Position
Anglicare supports a variety of initiatives aimed at helping young homeless people to build happier and healthier lives off the streets. We understand that no situation is the same and there are many factors that may contribute to a young person becoming homeless. Our Insync Youth Services are focused on early intervention, crisis and transitional accommodation and support of long-term positive housing outcomes.
We are looking for a positive and professional Youth Worker to provide care and/or support to young people, in our immediate need accommodation on a casual basis. Our Youth Workers enhance opportunities for young people to participate in age appropriate activities which support development of positive self-regard, community inclusion, and relationships with family of origin and to contribute to accommodation stability. Our successful candidate will offer the flexibility to cover both planned and emergency shifts across weekdays and weekends, and will be available to work across both Beenleigh and Mt Gravatt locations.
About You
We want to hear from people with exceptional communication skills and previous experience in youth or residential support, who will also be:
- Engaging with children and youth in positive and empowering ways to effectively support them in the development of independent living skills
- Confident in your understanding of youth behaviour and development, working from a trauma-informed framework
- Thoughtful and professional in response to crisis situations - working within risk and compliance guidelines
- A team player who works in a collaborative manner, but is capable of operating autonomously on a daily basis
- A strengths based leader with ability to be a positive adult role model to young people, assisting them to develop confidence and self-worth
- Focused on enhancing case planning by providing evidence-based insight, assessments and evaluations
- Willing and able work a rotating roster which may include weekends and public holidays
You will have:
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Work, Community Services or similar field
- A valid Blue Card (Working with Children)
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
- A current Queensland Driver Licence
