About the Location

Our small and well-established facility - Meilene - can be found in the iconic city of Bundaberg, famous for rum and turtles! Bundaberg is considered to be a gem of the Southern Barrier Reef with rich soil, lakes and rural landscapes showcasing extensive fields of sugar cane. With a subtropical climate, the area has hot, wet summers and mild winters and is a significant tourism gateway to both National Parks, and the Great Barrier Reef.

Only 385km from Brisbane, Bundaberg is serviced by a domestic airport with daily flights to the state capital, along with Queensland Rail passenger trains and the high-speed Tilt Train. With an estimated population of just over 70,000 it has a number of public and private schools - from prep through to secondary, as well as a Tech college and Central Queensland University campus. There is three hospitals and a Super Clinic, along with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Bundaberg has two large shopping centres housing supermarkets, specialist outlets and all common department stores; two large cinema complexes and a wide range of cafes and restaurants offering various cuisines.

Roles with Anglicare

Located on our spacious campus at Bundaberg East, Anglicare SQ’s fully accredited service of Meilene, is strengthened by a team of values-driven professionals who sincerely care about what we do and the difference we make in our residents’ lives. We are currently looking for like-minded Registered Nurses to join our team for both part time and full time shifts. Our Registered Nurses provide comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments - and plan care based on the outcomes of these assessments - utilising contemporary evidence based clinical knowledge. They also provide ongoing case management of residents and provide shift supervision and guidance to our Enrolled Nurses and Personal Care Workers.

 

About You and Your Experience

With a successful background, or genuine interest, in Aged Care nursing you will also be a strong, collaborative leader with the following skills:

  • Strong clinical background and current knowledge of practices and evaluations
  • Skills in palliative care, wound care, medication management and post-acute care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards and ACFI and other funding processes
  • Leadership, coaching and mentoring of nursing and personal care staff
  • Admissions and assessment of need to create and implement appropriate client-centric care packages
  • A commitment to continuous improvement through evaluation and education
  • An understanding of legislative requirements including Workplace Health and Safety
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal and an ability to work effectively within a team environment, relating to a wide range of staff, management, residents and families
  • Good computer knowledge with experience in clinical systems (AutumnCare would be beneficial)
  • Compassion and enthusiasm, with a friendly, approachable attitude
  • Provision of client-centred care which respects and protects the rights, privacy & wellbeing of our residents

With a strong client focus and the drive to make a real contribution, you will need to have the following credentials:

  • A degree in Nursing
  • A National Police Certificate
  • Current registration with AHPRA and several years’ experience in the Aged Care sector
  • The ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
