Coordinator - Residential Youth Care

About the Position

Anglicare’s Children & Families service provides Youth Residential Care in a number of locations across South East Queensland. Our Residential services offer care and support to children and young people in a home setting as an alternative to foster and kinship care, and range from immediate response for young people experiencing crisis, to short and long term options for children and young people who require stable care.

Our teams provide this care and support for young people (12-18 year olds) and are currently looking for a passionate and proactive full time Coordinator to join them - providing operational guidance and support to a small team of Youth Workers who oversee the wellbeing of children and young people in our care.

About You

With a collaborative and consultative approach, our successful candidate will be happy to roll up their sleeves and hit the ground running. Skills and capabilities will include:

  • A management background in child protection or youth work within residential programs, and a passion for creating success
  • Experience in planning and implementing strategies based on individual needs and behaviours
  • A consultative and collaborative approach and able to provide positive and practical resolution
  • Strong forward-planning and resource management skills, with the ability to ensure rosters successfully cover all leave requirements
  • Being organised with exceptional time management skills, as you will need to juggle a number of operational tasks while effectively maintaining management and administrative duties
  • A great leader who can arrange, advise, organise and implement team meetings and trainings as required
  • Confident and positive group facilitator with capacity to provide one-on-one mentoring and support
  • A mature, outcomes-focused attitude with a willingness to lead both staff and young people to positive results
  • Confident to both up-manage and support a busy, hard-working team to ensure both service and organisational success
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the capability to relate to a wide range of children, young people and their families
  • You will also be required to be on-call on a rotating roster.

Although attitude and abilities are the priority for this role, you will also be required to hold:

  • Degree in Behavioural or Human Services, Psychology, Social Work or similar field
  • A current Licenced Care Services (LCS)
  • Valid Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
