About the Position

Located on a hillside in the historic and picturesque suburb of Toowong, our fully accredited service of St John's Home for Men is a small, single room 64-bed facility with all male residents. The facility offers 24 hour nursing and care assistance including a memory support unit and comes complete with a “man cave” home cinema area. The majority of our residents live with mental health and/or behavioural issues, may have experienced homelessness, or come from non-mainstream backgrounds, and a third of them are under the age of 60.

We are looking for a Facility Manager who is experienced and is focused on individual support, providing unique care plans and improving the lives of each resident. A leader of people, you will be someone who can engage with male residents as a mentor, and take an open, positive approach to their lives.

This full time Facility Manager role is responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the facility within budgetary requirements, while achieving optimal quality standards within all legislative requirements. This position is therefore responsible for the operational, developmental, human resource, financial performance and resident outcomes of the facility; and will participate as an effective member of the Residential Aged Care team.

 

About You

An experienced manager with a passion for supporting men within the Aged Care sector, you will offer the following skills and capabilities:

  • A background in facility or service management, including operational and strategic planning, budgets and administration
  • Robust understanding of aged care standards, funding instruments, accreditation and legislative requirements
  • Commitment to working with men at risk or homelessness and/or with mental health issues including role modeling a positive and progressive attitude to life and addressing unacceptable behaviours and habits
  • Established networks in the community and a dedication to supporting eligible residents to transition into supported housing and assisting them to develop community connectedness
  • A strong leader who offers guidance and support to a stable, well established team and promotes collaboration and continuous improvement while working within best practice frameworks
  • Confident written and verbal communication; building strong, effective and productive working relationships
  • Ability to meet challenges, resolve issues and maintain a practical approach to achieve positive outcomes

Qualifications and certifications required:

  • Nursing degree with current AHRPA registration; or a degree in Human Services, Behavioural Science or similar field
  • Post graduate qualification in Health Administration, Human Resources, Business, Nursing Education, Research or similar field
  • Current or completed study in a relevant field of Business or Management (desired)
  • Ability to meet the requirements of a Key Personnel Check (Aged Care Act 1997)
  • A current National Police Certificate
  • Queensland Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle
