About the Position

Anglicare’s Community Aged & Disability teams provide support and services that enable our clients to maintain their independence - living happily and healthily within their own homes. We recognise that one size does not fit all, and working together is the key to great outcomes. Our non-clinical lifestyle programs are designed to support individual needs, incorporating the principles of social inclusion, choice and control, enablement, empowerment and independence; and our clinical supports include nursing and allied health care at home, along with domestic and personal assistance.

We are currently looking for a casual Allied Health Assistant to join our team in Toowoomba, undertaking a variety of clinical support tasks to assist the allied health staff to provide high standards of client services. The role will support allied health staff to deliver programs and services to clients in a community based setting and offer the opportunity to work with the wider allied health team across the Anglicare West region. The range of tasks will be multi-disciplinary in nature and will assist to provide effective and efficient clinical care. It may include in-home therapy programs, community integration, assisting with group activity and other specific technical and duties.

 

About You

With an energetic and enthusiastic approach, you will offer several years practical experience the community-based Allied health field and your knowledge will include:

  • Clinical care and understanding of Activity of Daily Living (IADL) and Personal Activity of Daily Living (PADL) and the processes of retraining
  • Conducting independent home & community care visits to assess and implement allied health plans
  • Recommendations for group activities and community integration programs
  • Coordinating and liaising with clients and family members to ensure smooth running and productive plans
  • Assistance with delivery of group activities including tai chi, hydrotherapy and exercise programs

To be successful in this role you will require the ability to work with a high level of independence and:

  • Demonstrated commitment to client-centred care
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - and the ability to relate effectively to a wide range of people
  • Robust administration and reporting skills and a confidence to manage your own workload
  • A collaborative nature and open, friendly disposition
  • Flexible and available for shifts at short notice - covering planned and unscheduled leave

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (AHA)
  • Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • A valid Blue Card (Working with Children) with Yellow Card exemption
  • National Police Certificate
  • A current Queensland Driver Licence
