We currently have a unique opportunity for an experienced senior manager to join our Children & Families team as Group Manager. This full time position, based in Brisbane’s CBD, reports directly to the Director of Services and oversees a $30million budget. The Group Manager is responsible for the development, growth, and improvement to our Children & Family services, which include Foster Care, Residential Care and Youth Justice support, and will manage seven direct reports and a broader team of 300 employees.

Working closely and collaboratively with Group Managers from other services areas, one of the essential requirements will be to enhance service user experience, by implementing systems and strategies to connect service groups. The position will require travel throughout Southern Queensland, providing support to services from Fraser Coast to the Gold Coast on a regular basis, and will incorporate significant engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

 

About You

Offering an established successful career working with children, youth and families as a service provider and/or within the Government sector, you will have a well-developed understanding of the Child Safety Act, significant management experience and the capacity to provide strong leadership.

Capabilities will include:

  • Strategic service development and understanding of how children, youth and family programs connect with community, and both human and health services
  • Substantial operational and management experience including sustainability & business development of multiple programs
  • Understanding of current reforms within the sector with a focus on innovative and contemporary approaches
  • Working within practice frameworks including trauma-informed and child & family-centred care
  • A strong background in collaboration across services, to promote and provide quality holistic support to clients
  • Effective mentor, motivator and coach, providing a cohesive working environment to support staff and volunteers
  • Well-defined knowledge working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and CALD communities, including cultural understanding and proactive engagement with elders and network groups
  • Previous experience managing budgets and financial requirements a multi-disciplinary service site, including contractual compliance and risk management
  • Remote management of people including recruitment, onboarding and professional review processes

A persuasive and passionate communicator, you will be effective relating to both internal and external stakeholders, including staff, management and board members. Further attributes will be:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to influence and negotiate to drive effective outcomes
  • Innovative and creative thinking with the ability to challenge existing practice and provide outside the box solutions
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a professional, productive manner to a large and diverse number of people
  • A dedicated child & family-centred approach and the commitment to develop and implement service delivery with this focus
  • Ability to compartmentalise and practice self-care methodologies; and promote this practice within your team
  • Proactive and productive management offering guidance, support, encouragement and stimulation to a team
  • Willingness to work outside of regular business hours including being part of the Disaster Coordination Team roster and sharing on-call responsibilities as required
  • An authentic values-driven approach and forward-thinking attitude that aligns with Anglicare’s philosophies

We are looking for highly capable professionals who offer the following requirements for this position:

  • Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Behavioural Sciences or similar field, along with post graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in, or relevant Business Management qualification
  • The ability to meet the requirements of a Key Personnel Check
  • Professional registration(s)
  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Valid National Police Certificate
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
