Registered Nurse - Paediatrics

About the Position

Anglicare’s Children & Families have a long history of providing family and children support services, including family intervention, foster and kinship care, counselling, relationship support and much more. In addition, we are now looking for a Registered Nurse with Paediatrics or Child Health experience to join us on a full time basis, providing assistance to vulnerable families throughout the Brisbane North region.

The Registered Nurse, Paediatrics will model good health practices within the home, assisting families to identify and manage any unmet health and medical needs which are affecting their children’s wellbeing and development, and assist them to engage with health providers to address these needs successfully.

 

About You

With an already successful career in Nursing, you will be passionate about supporting children and their families to improve wellness and family dynamics. To join the Anglicare team, you will be skilled and experienced in:

  • Visiting the homes of vulnerable and/or high risk families and engaging with them to identify needs of the children
  • Working in partnership with parents to implement appropriate interventions and services
  • Delivering comprehensive health assessments and the development of holistic care plans in relation to at-risk children
  • Coordination and management of referrals and case conferencing; care delivery reviews and adjustments
  • Providing support and assistance to families in building relationships with local health providers
  • Supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families, and CALD communities within varying socio-economic situations

  • Ethical standards, integrity and understanding of the professionalism to maintain confidentiality
  • A willingness to visit the homes of families, providing assertive outreach to connect them to health services
  • Demonstrated understanding of continuous quality improvement in family services
  • A consistent focus on child safety and wellbeing, following best practice procedures

Qualifications and other requirements include:

  • A degree in Nursing (or equivalent qualifications and experience to Registered Nurse level)
  • Qualifications in Paediatrics, Child Health, Child/Youth Mental Health or similar would be beneficial
  • Registration with AHPRA and evidence of current practice
  • Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Current National Police Certificate and Licenced Care Service (LCS)
  • A current First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • Valid Queensland Driver Licence
