Our small and well-established facility - Meilene - can be found in the iconic city of Bundaberg, famous for rum and turtles! Bundaberg is considered to be a gem of the Southern Barrier Reef with rich soil, lakes and rural landscapes showcasing extensive fields of sugar cane. With a subtropical climate, the area has hot, wet summers and mild winters and is a significant tourism gateway to both National Parks, and the Great Barrier Reef.

To support this family-focused facility we are looking for an experienced leader who can see the big picture, and is able to drive both cultural and clinical practice to ensure the provision of high quality services to aged care residents. This will be achieved by effectively leading, motivating and developing a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of individualised care while enhancing residents’ quality of life, and achieving the strategic direction of the organisation within designated clinical and business frameworks. 

This full time Facility Manager role is responsible for the effective and efficient operations of the facility within budgetary requirements, while achieving optimal quality standards within all legislative requirements. This position is therefore responsible for the operational, developmental, human resource, financial performance and resident outcomes of the Facility; and will participate as an effective member of the Residential Aged Care team.

 

About the Region

Only 385km from Brisbane, Bundaberg is serviced by a domestic airport with daily flights to the state capital, along with Queensland Rail passenger trains and the high-speed Tilt Train. With an estimated population of just over 70,000 it has a number of public and private schools - from prep through to secondary, as well as a Tech college and Central Queensland University campus. There is three hospitals and a Super Clinic, along with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Bundaberg has two large shopping centres housing supermarkets, specialist outlets and all common department stores; two large cinema complexes and a wide range of cafes and restaurants offering various cuisines.

Your Skills and Experience

An experienced senior nurse with a passion for Aged Care, you will offer the ability to lead and develop teams, and have demonstrable knowledge of, and experience in:

  • Strong management and leadership including education and continuous improvement practices; an understanding of workplace culture and strategies to engage and improve staff connectedness
  • Ability to lead a team through change, manage expectations and impacts - both positive and negative
  • Preparation and implementation of a relevant and realistic business plan - including workforce planning - considering geographic, strategic and financial elements
  • Development of, and innovation in, service delivery and standards of practice
  • Contemporary clinical practice standards within the Aged Care sector including the guiding principles, funding instruments and sources relevant to residential care facilities
  • Current competencies in operational planning, resource and budget management

Your management within Aged Care or Health, will have established strong attributes and personal traits, including:

  • The ability to lead, guide, mentor and develop a large and diverse team within a resident-centred environment
  • Confident communication and a focus on building strong, effective and productive working relationships, both internally and externally
  • A critical thinker with advanced problem solving, negotiation, influencing and change management skills
  • Evidence-based focus on high quality care, including a passion for the industry and a belief in personal and professional ethics
  • Commitment to long term employment and steering continuous quality improvement within the facility

To be successful in this role, you must have extensive nursing experience preferably within a specialist aged care position and:

  • A degree in nursing with current AHRPA registration and evidence of practice
  • Evidence of current or completed study in a relevant field of Business or Management
  • Ability to meet the requirements of a Key Personnel Check (Aged Care Act 1997)
  • A current National Police Certificate
  • Queensland Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle
